From the rich culture, to indulging in their food Nigeria is definitely a place I would visit again. I thought I share about the variety of foods that I had the opportunity to try while visiting the country:

Jollof Rice

Jollof Rice

Jollof Rice is a very popular West African dish rice, It’s typically made with long grain rice, tomatoes, chillis, onions, spices, and sometimes other vegetables and/or meat in a single pot, its ingredients and preparation methods vary across different regions. Usually served with a protein such as chicken or goat meat ETC. It’s so good!

Amala & Abula Soup

A commonly eaten dish among the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria, it can me made from either Yam and Plantain it’s mainly served with a variety of meat stew, It was actually my favorite meal to try I enjoyed the rich smooth texture and taste.

Suya

A popular West African grilled skewered meat, typically made with thinly sliced beef, goat, or chicken that is coated in a spicy peanut-based seasoning called yaji and then grilled

Pounded Yum & Egusi Stew

Egusi soup is popular in Western Africa. The soup is thickened with ground melon, gourd, or squash seeds. Pounded yam is a popular African dish similar to mashed potatoes but heavier. Pounded Yam is very smooth and tasty. It is often eaten with vegetable soup.

Asun

Very Spicy but yet delicious, Asun is a traditional, flavorful Yoruba barbecue dish of spiced, peppered goat meat originating from Western Nigeria, it’s usually served at parties or special occasions.
