Hello,

Just thought I share six beautiful islands that are located right here in the US, with the best part being that they could possibly be just a car or train ride away. I hope you find this blog post helpful :).

1. Martha’s VineyardMassachusetts

A US classic island gateway in Cape Cod Massachusetts, with family-friendly spots like State Beach, scenic cliffs at Aquinnah, and surfing areas near Edgartown. Try out the popular Restaurants: The Black Dog Tavern – Iconic seafood & souvenirs. Atria – Upscale dining with fresh local ingredients. Back Door Donuts – Classic treat for breakfast or snack.

2. Jekyll Island- Georgia

Unlike some exclusive islands, Jekyll is relatively easy to reach (connected to the mainland by a causeway) a 90-minute drive from both Savannah, Georgia, and Jacksonville, Florida, and around two hours from Hilton Head, South Carolina. There’s a small entry/parking fee for visitors. Driftwood Beach is the most famous, with its hauntingly beautiful, weathered trees scattered along the shore (a favorite for photography). St. Andrews Beach and Glory Beach are also popular. In the 19th century, Jekyll Island was a popular destination among some of America’s most affluent families, including the Vanderbilts and the Rockefellers. The island experienced an injection of wealth during this time that can still be observed today.

3. The Keys Florida

The Florida Keys 🌴 are a string of tropical islands stretching about 120 miles off the southern tip of Florida, connected by the famous Overseas Highway (U.S. 1). They’re known for turquoise waters, coral reefs, a laid-back vibe, and a mix of history and adventure.

4. Chincoteague Island- Virginia

Virginia’s only resort island. Located on the Eastern Shore, it’s famous for its wild ponies, beaches, and relaxed coastal vibe. 🌊 Highlights of Chincoteague:

Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge – Located on neighboring Assateague Island, this is where you’ll find pristine beaches, trails, and of course, the wild Chincoteague ponies. Wild Ponies – Twice a year, the famous Pony Swim & Auction (late July) sees the ponies swim from Assateague to Chincoteague, a tradition since the 1920s. Assateague Island National Seashore – Gorgeous undeveloped beaches, dunes, and marshes. Great for swimming, birding, and shell collecting.

5. South Padre Island – Texas

South Padre Island is an island off the southern coast of Texas in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s one of the state’s most popular beach destinations, known for soft sandy beaches, water sports, wildlife, and nightlife.

6. Long Beach Island- New Jersey

About two hours away from NYC and or Philadelphia, a favorite summer escape for families, surfers, and anyone who loves a classic beach-town vibe.

Thank you for reading. I hope you found this blog post helpful and insightful :). Enjoy your stay if you ever plan to visit one of them.

Until next week, stay blessed.

Vicky.

That’s really cool! I don’t live anywhere near the coast, but I have been to the Florida Keys. Great recommendations!
